Description The oblitii (plural for oblitium) are pesky creatures found all over Distortia; they're usually found in pairs but areas containing more than that, 10 at the most, aren't uncommon.

Oblitii appear to be about 7ft tall or 2m in height; gaining exact measurements has proven to be very difficult since they do not have legs and for another reason which will be explained later. It is uncertain how oblitii create locomotion but it's believed that the hairs at the bottom of the creatures have something to do with it as they seem to wisp away much like the legs of the Distortian Wild Horses. Perhaps the hairs aren't hairs at all and are instead tentacles?

Oblitii seem to be covered in a thick black fur that is unusually soft to the touch. Obstucting the endless black, is a stony grey face baring minor resemblence to that of an elephant but, unlike the elephant, the "trunk" is completely solid and the "ears" are actually air sacks that expand and constract to create vocalisation. The sounds emitted are usually a deep, confused, humming noise but the oblitii will produce a sudden "Ah-ha!" yell when prey is detected.

When prey is detected, the oblitium will try to entrance the prey by encouraging eye contact with it. The eyes of an oblitium resemble camera lenses and have the memetic ability to cause the prey to become unable or unwilling to move or look away. The oblitium will approach the prey and then spead apart the fur on its [the oblitium's] stomach using its skeletal hands, revealing a gapping hole where it will proceed to absorb the memories. It will keep absorbing the memories until there's nothing left unless someone/something where to intervene and pull the prey out to safety. There is no known way of killing them.

An external force is the only known way to break free from the oblitium but that's only if its right in front of the victim; the hypnotic effects become ineffective the further away the victim is from the oblitium. Therefore, together with the fact that oblitii are very slow creatures; tavelling at about 3mph or 5km/h max, it is easy to outrun and escape them.

In the macabre world of Distortia, each creature embodies a certain element of the human mind; a flaw, an internal struggle or a way to die. In the case of the oblitium, it is obvious that this is the embodiment of forgetting or amnesia.

The name "Oblitium" comes from the combination of "oblitus somnium" meaning "forgotten dream" in latin (according to google translate). I named them this because these creatures appeared in a dream of mine many years ago.

I think my brain based them off of "Seekers"; creatures found in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Seekers come from Apocrypha which is the realm of Hermaeus Mora, the daedric prince of memory, knowledge and fate. The world in my dream did look like Apocrypha but I'm not sure why the seekers appeared as they did?
