“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!” Shiningstar mewed with a wide smile on her maw. This would be quite a special ceremony.
Leafclan cats gathered before their golden striped leader, Venus and Deerpaw taking the front of the crowd. Shining waited patiently for all to gather in front of her before continuing. Venus held his usual neutral look, keeping his gaze toward Shingingheart. Deerpaw beside him looked rather nervous, but the apprentice looked more hopeful when he noticed Geckoscamper sitting nearby.
“Venus and Deerpaw, please step forward.” the leader mewed, beckoning the two cats to stand and pad a bit closer.
“Deerpaw, you suffered an injury, and so your warrior ceremony was delayed. You have trained hard and long to make up for time lost in the medicine cat’s den. I admire your perseverance, bravery, and willpower to do so.” She gave a nod, and Deerpaw nodded back timidly. “Venus, do you believe Deerpaw is now ready to be a warrior?”
The scarred mentor looked to his apprentice, then back to his leader, “Yes, Shiningstar. He recovered from his injury, and has learned much in his… long... training. I think he deserves to now earn the title of a warrior.”
Shiningheart dipped her head in acknowledgment of the mentor’s opinion, then turned her gaze to Deerpaw. “Deerpaw, will you then swear yourself to Leafclan and our ways and promise to serve our clan with all the skills you have learned?”
Deerpaw bowed his head, “Yes, Shiningstar, I do.” He raised his head back up, holding his head high and trying to be brave through his nervous excitement.
“Then from this moment forward, by the powers of Starclan, I give you the title of warrior, and your warrior name, Deerdancer. We honor your dedication and perseverance!"
“Let's welcome Leafclan’s newest warrior, Deerdancer!” Shiningheart mewed with a grin and a swish of her tail.
The clan erupted with the chanting of his name, “Deerdancer, Deerdancer, Deerdancer!”
The new warrior smiled with sparkles in his eyes, he gave a thankful look to Venus, then pranced over to Geckoscamper, nuzzling her with pride. Finally, he could share a den with her, and didn’t have to pick ticks off of the elders!
