“Redflame… is gone.” Fireflyspark mewed solemnly. He put a paw over the former warrior’s eyes to close them in his ascent to Starclan.

Ivyfang had tears in her eyes. She’d been a friend of Redflame. “He fought so hard.” her voice shook and she looked away. “I know he’s no longer in pain in Starclan now. But I will miss him…” She bowed her head and shivered.

It was past moon-high now. The rest of the clan that was awake bowed their heads, the message shared quickly in whispers from cat to cat. A second warrior was officially lost by the fox that had attacked the patrol at the border moons ago. Despite the creature not being seen since then, cats were enforced to never leave camp alone, patrols were strengthened in numbers, and camp was fortified.

Fireflyspark rested his tail on Ivyfang’s shoulder. “He’s at peace now, I promise.” he spoke in a soft mew. “Let us mourn him tonight. And be stronger in spirit by tomorrow.” Ivyfang gave a nod and let her eyes rest on Redflame’s still pelt.

The clan would soon have a vigil to attend.
