I really like the texture of the background. Do you ever work digitally? Because that's something that would make a nice texture pattern you can use in other works. This is clean and the colors are very nice but the but the bird lacks enough contrast to stand out from the background. It's an easy fix-- make it lighter yellow or add more shadows behind it or give it bright highlight points or a combination of all three. I am of the opinion that text shouldn't be done by freehand unless you're REALLY good at it. It requires so much precision that even being a little off, shows.
