Because it was insulting. New or not, you should realize that things written on the web can be hurtful. If you are indeed new then please read over the dA FAQs. Particularly those regarding DD's. If you are going to offer "criticism," as you say, then make it constructive and offer enlightenment on how the photographer can improve his images instead of simply saying that you don't get why this was featured as a DD.
The "no offense" part was fine, it was the "This is a DD... I don't get it" part that was offensive to the photographer who did not ask for a DD.
If you would look at the category under the photo you would see that it is a stock/resource meaning it is provided 100% free of charge for artists to use in their artwork. These resources do not have to be Ansel Adams quality material. And when you sit there and say something like you not understanding why an average photo is featured is uncalled for since this person provided it from the goodness of their heart. It is the artists' job to make this photo into something spectacular.

I saw this artwork passing several times on the clubs I am member of with my artaccount and I have to say that I thought it was a pretty amazing piece of work, I did not realize by then you actually used my stock for this artwork which makes the piece even more amazing for me. Thanks for using my stock.
