"Your bet is placed. Let's see what happens." He says.
The train comes hurtling along and someone darts out of the crowd, leaping into the train well and grabs the child, carrying her out with probably two feet to spare before the train would have slammed into them.
"But let's be fair to your point of view. This could just be an isolated incident." He says. "There's more..."
They appear hovering over a homeless shelter.
"No matter where humans are, the destitute will always exist. But unlike earlier eras where they died quickly, humans take care of their own, helping them find work, shelter, food and clothes." He explained as smiling volunteers filled bowls of hearty stew for the homeless people filing in.
"There's even more..."
They appeared over a battlefield, it was nighttime and one soldier began to slowly stride out across the field, holding up a candleabra while singing a soft hymn.
"This is Bulgaria, 1914. This is one of many such truces where, even in a war, these men so craved peace and goodwill, that for the holiday of Christmas, they celebrated together. In the current year, it's very stylish to scowl upon the religious and spiritual. But those doing the scowling so often forget moments like these..." He said softly as more soldiers poured out of their foxholes and began to chat, laugh, sing and trade stories, rations and cigarettes.
"Even in war humanity has goodness inside."

He shakes his head. "These are all real moments. Nothing I show you is false. I'm only capable of travel, not fabrications. Much less on this scale..." He admits. "Were this not a war zone, I'd take you down to talk to the soldiers. But because there is goodness in humanity, they would want to help you, a child, get as far away from the battlefield as possible."

"Oh, and to answer your question, this event was indeed in the history books..." he says, gesturing to the battlefield, then holding up a World War 2 historical reference.

"Nothing's faked, child. In fact, next example will involve you... Oh, be warned though, if you try to kill anyone, you're going back into the prison and will never again be able to leave." He says, then in a flash, Chara was standing on a field in a farm. A few minutes of wandering and Chara saw a tractor, helmed by a young farmer. He spotted Chara, stopping and climbing out. "Woah... are you alright, kiddo? Did you get lost? Ya' from town?" He asked, brow furrowed in concern.

She refused to respond to the farmer.

He saw how parched she looked... "Hold on, miss, I'll get'cha something to drink. You look awful..." He rushed to his tractor and fished a bottle of water from the cooler strapped to the back, handing it to her. "Good girl though, not talking to strangers. But I just need you to write your parents' names so I can look em' up in the phone book, get em' here to pick ya' up." He said, then noted her despondant expression. "Oh... runaway, huh...? The real kind. You look like you were really hurt. Not like a lotta kids who run away because their ma and pa won't get em' candy at the store. Listen, ya' can stay the night, but tomorrow, you want me to take ya' to the police so you can tell em' about th' hittin'?"

The past Chara nods and was taken inside the house.

He snaps his fingers. "Aww sh-.... shucks!" He corrects himself in front of a child. "Forgot the tractor keys. Be back in a lamb's tail shake! Just finish yer' water and have a seat, sugar pie!" He exclaims, darting out. Chara sees pictures of him and two older people, his parents probably, smiling and laughing, a picture full of people, including her host, and a picture of a pretty young woman in a hospital bed holding a baby.

The present Chara tries to hold back their tears as they watch.

The farmer came back, putting the tractor keys on a hook. "Well, since you're not keen on talking, let's figure out what you'd like to eat. Is a turkey sandwhich okay? You want mayo or mustard or cheese?" He asks, putting out ingredients for her to point to.

The present Chara tries even harder to hold back her tears.

He notes her sniffling as he prepares her sandwhich. "Are you alright, sweety? Well... chances are if you've run off, nothing's been alright. Trust me, I understand that feeling." He says. "But you can't let it get to you. Awful things happen and all you can do is dust off and carry on and try to make the world a brighter and happier place than how you found it." He said with a smile, setting the sandwhich and a glass of cold milk in front of her at the table.

He sat down across from her. "I guess it wouldn't do to remain strangers. I'm Joseph." He said. "What's your name?"

He smiled, extending his hand across the table. "Pleasure to meet you. So... I won't ask you what happened to you that you felt like running away, but if you want to tell me what you want to do now, take your time and lemme know."

"Well... if you don't wanna talk, then uh... well, just finish up your sandwhich and milk and I've got a guest bedroom here on the ground floor. S'all yours as long as ya' need it. It was my..." He paused, trailing off, eyes getting a bit moister for a moment. "Anyway, bed's made and the room's got some toys still. So uh... enjoy! I've gotta get back to the crops, sweety. If you wanna pet my goat, Sheila, she's right outside the back. She's a sweetheart. Wouldn't hurt a fly. If you need anything, just ring that there bell on the front porch." He said, smiling.
He stood, patting her head, then walked through the door, paused, looked back at her with concern, then gave a small smile and walked out.
"He's a widower." Came Zucca's voice after a moment. He was standing behind her. "His wife and child died in a car accident. It wasn't anyone's fault. It was just rain. Such a loss could turn someone horrible, bitter, callous of heart... But you saw for yourself, Chara. He's not a cruel, wicked or bitter man. He carries on. He tends his crops and animals. And shows kindness to complete strangers."

"You could stay here if you wanted..." Zucca added softly. "He's a decent man and you'd have a good, free life here. It was something that someone very gentle offered you once, wasn't it?" He asked.
He knew about Toriel and what she did...

If you can make it from the moment you fall into the Underground to the moment you escape without harming a single soul, then you have my promise that your life will become richer and fuller for more reasons you can shake a stick at. Starting... with the lonely old woman who tried to take you in and care for you. Much like the farmer..."
