    Story:

It was cold. Not just a little cold, no, extremely cold! Liliana was used to some cold and harsh conditions in the Italian Alps, but this was a whole new level! After arrival, she first headed out to check on the animals. The dogs were shipped over from the USA branch of Mountain RIdge, but she herself and her horse had come all the way from Europe. Luckily, all had gone well and the feisty mare seemed to have adapted to the cold nicely.

The dogs were also doing fine, even if they hadn’t seen snow in a while. The fine layer of dry snow was barely enough for them to worry. Tails wagging, they happily greeted their human companion for the coming weeks. Liliana gave them a pet on their heads and then headed out to tell the competition host she had arrived. She was told to get used to the cold for one day, tomorrow the vet check would be up for her animals. After that, she would receive her physical before she was allowed to enter this harsh challenge.

The night was comfy in the hotel on site. A fireplace in her room made it cosy and the view on the stables was giving her a good feeling as well. The dogs were gently playing with a rope near the fire, while Liliana got her dinner served. The two dogs briefly lifted their heads, checking in to see if they were able to get anything of that human food, but quickly continued playing as they realised Liliana was not one for sharing with the two dogs.

The next morning, she checked her equipment. Dog packs, dog shoes and some blankets for the night. The horse shoes, saddle, blanket, and other equipment also looked perfectly fine. She picked a small white bridle for the vet check and put some estate leashes on the dogs. She also put on her estate jacket so people could see which estate she was riding for. The bright ochre color of MountainRidge Estate was recognisable everywhere and also made her feel safe in the gray outdoors. With the dogs on their leash and Tessa on her bridle, she headed out of the barn and into the snow for their vet check.

It all went well. It was a full time job keeping Tessa away from other horses, but at least she succeeded. The dogs were their best selves, no doubt. Gently wagging their tails as the vet checked them over and agreed for them to run all those miles alongside their equine friend. Tessa was also approved for the challenge. Now, she only had to pass her own exam before they could start their adventure in the following days!

Once back at the stables, she covered Tessa in a warm blanket and gave her some warm water and hay. Then she turned back indoors with Cherry and Ginny on her heels. At least for now they could enjoy a few more days in comfort before they would embrace the cold weather for a few weeks!
