Description
Cataloguing where I'm at with projects, so it's about time this was updated.
"The Sphinx is an all-terrain armored support mech designed to fulfill the roles of a command station, communications relay, artillery support, and combat engineering vehicle.
Its mobility consists of two quadruple wheeled arm carriages, dual extendable continuous tracks, and two jet wheeled legs with quadruple external sprocket continuous tracks. Arm and leg positions can be adjusted for exclusive track or wheel ground contact.
Winch cables mounted on the chest and elbows can be used to assist when traversing steep grades.
Its armor consists of thin plates mostly designed to mask its power signature, and although not designed with CQB in mind, its power supply, command turret, chest cavity, and feet are armored with blunt-force resistant plates, should a close range encounter occur.
It has a modular armament usually consisting of two ~13 cm shoulder mounted recoiless massdrivers, and a rear mounted ~30 cm mass driver. All are remote operated and can be controlled from the cockpit or an external gunnery computer.
By default extendable arms are mounted on the shoulders, providing firing stability, mobility assistance, combat engineering, salvage, and in rare cases, close quarters combat.
The cockpit is mounted on a 360 degree turret, and has a full compliment of short and long range antenna, optics, and active power disturbance "ears" mounted on their own turret.
Two pilots and one commander are present in the turret. For small operations the commander assists the pilots, but in active combat conditions the commander acts as the combat group's primary tactician.
There is a minimum of two engineers on the exterior to assist the pilots, and when the rear cannon is mounted an additional gunnery engineer is required, bringing the average crew count to six.
Although it's very rarely driven at speed, it's able cruise at 60 km per hour (37 mph), but can achieve higher speeds if safety isn't a priority."
