Description
Description:P.A.T. is easily the most logical and levelheaded member of Team Miles. While he does has his friends’ best interests at heart, his no-nonsense attitude can make him come off as a buzzkill, leading to the others (primarily Jason) ignoring his advice. He is also easily frustrated by and intolerable of tomfoolery. This usually results in rather heated arguments and snarky back-and-fourths against him and Jason. The two of them have opposite personalities, and continuously annoy each other with their need to push their own personal opinions onto one another.
P.A.T. simply just wants to follow his programming and do what he was created to do: navigate Jason across the galaxy to help him find his home planet. But as other things in the universe tend to stand in their way, be it evil villains, helping others, natural causes, or any other kind of detour, he starts off by seeing these things as interferences.
It’s eventually revealed that P.A.T. simply wants to do what he’s programmed to do, because he doesn’t want to end up in a junkyard again; he’s afraid of feeling obsolete or useless, especially compared to all the more advanced robots running around these days. But after going on all these adventures with Jason and Quartz, he slowly starts to realize that there may be more to life than just following protocol. In the end, P.A.T. has a change of heart, as he now has a new purpose: being a hero to all, and a good friend to Team Miles.
Backstory:
Jason first meets P.A.T. on the planet he grew up on, Kaaon, in the junkyard where Jason would often get the spare parts to build his own hoverbike. Jason brought him back to his garage and reactivated him, but because of his memory chip being a little on the fritz, P.A.T. cannot remember who he used to serve or how long he had been in the junkyard.
(It’s possible that P.A.T. used to belong to an evil villain, but P.A.T. had some sort of important information on him, and then the villain might’ve fried his memory circuit, and left him in that junkyard for years) Jason decided to keep him, believing a Nav-Bot would be handy in finding his home planet. But after they began their journey, their opposite personalities caused them to clash often. And after bring Quartz into the picture, P.A.T. began to feel like he was babysitting the two of them. But their relationship hasn’t been all that rocky. Jason does genuinely care about P.A.T., and will often do things for him, like stand up for him whether he’s being called out for being an obsolete robot, or inventing new weapons and upgrades for him to make him more of a fighter.
