Well, there's a lot of thoughts about Vanessa and why she's like this.I don't exactly know much about it but I do find this interesting, and I think, that Vanessa is Vanny.
Rumors say that she was in Help Wanted, while collecting things in there.
And, during then, Glitchtrap took control over her mind and she can't get out of it.
So she became the night guard in the mall, while William is still in her mind.
It's pretty confusing, I know. We'll find out more about it soon, once the DLC comes out.
