Even with low expectation, the movie still managed to disappoint.ΒNot a wreck, but not that good either.

I actually liked the ending of the film better then the book, compared to what the characters in the book were they gave all the characters of the High five some pretty good screen time, It would have been a little better if they gave one of the Brothers a time of crisis that would have improved there character better(one of them died in the book) but they nailed it with taking Wade out of the major spot light (he was supposed to be taken by IOI) and it felt like they were in true danger and desperate then just being in a safe house to finish the game. Artemis was pretty great with busting Wade's delusion of being in the OASIS. felt Aceh could have had a better chance of developing especially when you go into detail about why she chose a male avatar. to be honest would have liked to see Parzaviel become the ruler of the oasis and wipe IOI of the Face of the simulation but having the Nostromo see the egg held in wades hands was a pretty awesome moment. overall this movie was pretty awesome liked most of the changes think they missed the mark on some. but over all a pretty solid flick

Haven't read the book. Is it better than the movie or more of the same, but in different format? I've heard they've changed a lot from the book, but that the core story is basically the same.

Core story is the same a big improvement was shared character time and Hallidayβs hunt being about the regrets of his lifeβs choices and his self imposed isolation instead of his obsessions of fandoms,as I wrote before a good point would be to have Daito injured and to be less effective in the OASIS until it shows the benefit for the disabled, and they removed Wades extremely anti social moment that I now see as off putting, there were a few bits I miss from the book that wasent in the movie but overall it was a very good succes
