Here is yet another character I made myself from scratch that is from a not-so-well-known Arcade game in the late 80's.

Labryna is a character from an Arcade game that involves you running around in a spooky nightmare-inducing maze, where you can wield medieval style weapons to defend yourself from strange looking monsters, all while you are looking for a key to proceed to the next level while your health slowly drains all by itself......"Gauntlet," you might say? No! This is a lesser known Arcade game from Konami called "Dark Adventure."

I never played it growing up, but I very clearly remember seeing it in a Mall while the spooky attract mode for the game was playing. It showed the main characters surrounded by skeletons, and intense but creepy music was playing over it. I found it very intriguing, but as always, Mother claimed to be "out of quarters" at the time. I managed to play it many years later and enjoyed it very much, as Konami was always great at making the scary mood of their earlier games very immersive.

The Japan and European versions of this game had an upgrade called "Devil World" that made it a little more linear, which was a welcome change since the original game would like to send you to earlier lower levels just because you picked the wrong door from about 6 doors all next to each other. Devil World also let you pack a little more heat as it made it easier to get Flame Throwers, Laser Guns and Bazookas to use against the hoards of the undead. Groovy.
