I heard a song called "Mine" by Phoebe Ryan. I found it from a Peridot music video tribute. Check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bYkYg…
While the video itself, doesn't completely represent the song... the editing is absoluetly amazing and I love the video. It inspired me to make this drawing.

The song really does fit Peridot. In my eyes it's about her adjusting to Earth and trying to make the best of it. She latches onto what she knows is "hers" to give her some stability in a strange world. Hence the name, "Mine" and the lyrics, "I'll pull it together and fix myself eventually. I know it's mine..."

At first she is lost and confused. She doesn't understand anything about the world and has lost everything. Her flask robonoids, the ship, connection to homeworld, and most importantly: her limb enhancers. Lucky for her, Steven still has her foot from before. It's pretty clear she is attached to it, considering she actually hugs it while sitting in the dark corner of the bathroom. It's all she has left, and its hers.

In the second panel, I drew her with her tape recorder. When Steven gave her that recorder, she was immediately attached to it; treating it as her old finger screens and logs. She uses it to document EVERYTHING, as we can clearly see in "Log Date 7-14-2." It's hers now and something she uses therapeutically to replace what she lost. That is... until "Message Received." After that episode, in "Log Date 7-14-2," she gives it up and while Steven does give it back to her, we never see her use it again.

In the third panel, I drew all the gems, Steven, and that alien plush she wins in "Too Short to Ride." This is the last stage of her development having to do with the song. She's smiling and happy. She's finally accepted Earth as her home and the gems as her friends. While technically the gems aren't "hers," to Peridot they are. Sure she has the alien plush and seemed quite desperate to have it, but she doesn't act like she did all those episodes ago. She trust the gems now and seems to accept them as her family. Through everything that happened, they are Peridot's. And that's enough for her.

Whoo that was a lot to write but I wanted to put my thoughts down about this. I'm not going to lie, I had to pull up images on my phone and use a lot of combinations of refs. But this drawing has been in the works for weeks now. I only finished the background today. Since the school year started, I've been drawing her without the need for refs and I'm proud of myself My past two pictures I posted where from a few days ago and those were done without refs. So I'm practicing.
