Description

So, really, the winner of the poll was more DIRPG art! I'm waiting to pick her main quests back up until I can purchase a little something-something from the shop. Plus, this art is also building up to the thing I'm buying. *hint* *hint*
Also, I quite enjoyed drawing drawing Ava and Meg on Dot's back. The lit. I'm about to write below will explain why they hitched a ride when they have perfectly functional legs. Well, Ava has an excuse cause she's a tiny li'l pupper, but Meg has some explaining to to. XD

Dottie

Ava

After fleeing from the snake, Dot made sure her doggie friends kept up with her, as they were a lot smaller than her and they could easily lose sight of her if she got too far. Plus, the tropical plants around them were pretty tall. Once Dot was at a comfortable distance from where she had seen the snake, she slowed to a walk, then stopped by a tree to check on Ava and Meg. The adult canine was carrying the puppy by her scruff, scampering along to catch up to the mare. "Is Ava alright?" Dot asked Meg. The dog placed the youngster in the sand and nodded, which Ava decided to answer that question. "I'm okay, don't worry, Ms. Dot!" With a sigh of relief, Dot lowered her head to smile at her friends. Though now she saw how tuckered out they were and curled her front legs beneath her, lowering her body just enough for Meg and Ava. "Hop on, we should be able to find fresh water somewhere nearby. Besides the ocean, of course." She jested to the dogs, which they both giggled in response. Meg just awkwardly hung over Dot's back like a hunted animal, while Ava curled up on the mare's back with ease due to her size. There was some silence between the three for a good fifteen minutes until the pup spoke up. "So, Ms. Meg! Where are you from?" She asked so innocently. The adult canine grinned and glanced down at the shiba inu puppy before replying; "I came from a wild dog pack over in the forest. But before that, I was a hunter's dog, bred for tracking bears."
"Woah, you tracked bears? Were they the big ones or the little baby ones?" Intrigued by the adult canine's origins, little Ava just begged for more information. Meg's grin turned into a soft smile, slowly nodding her head. "I tracked bears of all sizes with my fellow hunting dogs. But...our master took us on a trip to go after one bear, and- well...half of my packmates were killed, and I was left injured by the bear. Our master was long gone by then, either lying dead elsewhere, or just abandoned us to feed the bear. After that, the pack of dogs found me and took me in, nursed me back to health, and took advantage of my hunting skills to find large prey. Really, that was when I met Dot. They had me track her down, but when I saw how they were going to take her down, I had enough and distracted them long enough for Dot to run. Isn't that right, Dottie?" Meg looked to the mare, who laughed and bobbed her head. "Yep! I'd be dog food if it weren't for you."
"And where did you come from, little Ava?"

"My mommy!" Ava just so innocently shouted, her tiny curled tail wagging in delight. Dot and Meg bursted into laughter, shaking their heads. "I mean after that, Ava!" Meg said. The puppy giggled wildly; "Oh! Well, my Mommy was a stray when she had me. I was a only pup in my litter, but my mommy disappeared before I met you guys!" The two adults felt bad for the youngster, but really, they DID ask. "Where did you come from, Ms. Dot?" Ava finally asked. The mare's beige-colored eyes softened, her ears drooping slightly. "Um..." The canine's fell silent, seeing the question pained Dot a little. "Oh, I'm sorry if I upset you..! Please, don't be sad!" Ava pleaded. "Yeah, don't sweat it. If you don't want to talk about it, then we're okay with that."

"No, it's unfair for me to keep my silly backstory a secret while you two told yours." Dot briefly looked over her shoulder at the two before letting out a shaky breath. "I was a show horse...a dressage and cross country star. My owners loved me a lot...but they also loved winning. One day, I got hurt during a cross country show, and I was out of the game for a long while. Because of that, they decided to immediately replace me with a better horse. But there was...one human, who still wanted the best for me. Once I healed up, they tried to get me to prove I was still useful to the other humans. But I was so upset with the humans, I just...couldn't bring myself to do anything but walk around or run. So, the other humans...wanted to sell me...a very mean human bought me, and wanted to pick me up the next day. But that kind, friendly human...she set me free, protecting me from the evil one..." Meg and Ava saw the pain in their friends eyes as she told her story to them. Meg patted the mare's side and softly smiled. "On the bright side, you wouldn't have met us if she hadn't released you!" Ava said cheerfully. "Yeah, you're right about that." Dot responded. Now the canine's were just trying to lighten Dot's spirits, sharing more stories with her, mostly funny ones. That mare sure was lucky to have friends like them, willing to do anything to make her happy. Though honestly, they couldn't do too much while sitting on her back, especially Meg, who still looked like Dot had hunted her.
