Its mermay again so here’smy merman from last year becauseBefore this I hadn’t drawn mermaids in years.
Since I enjoy character design and concept art I decided to turn a tropical fish into a mermaid. Specifically, a lionfish. Lion fish have large appetites as well as being venomous. So I made him fatter with a confident looked, it worked out really well as his stripes blend nicely into his stretch marks. I used more spikes/ fins instead of actual hair as to not over complicated the design
