My two favourites. I just can't stay long without drawing them, because they will always be dear to me. And that's the thing with hetalia characters: they're not just characters, they resonate with everyone's experiences and feelings for nations. I feel very connected to the US even if I'm French, and I wish our two countries had a clearer understanding of each other because there are so many false assumptions on both sides (because poeple watch the news instead of talking to actual poeple: big mistake! we are not our leaders, we are not our tragedies.)I know I can't do much to get us closer, but I will always feel like we are actually really good for each other, more similar than we assume and that our differences compliment and balance each other rather than clash.

As for the way I see the characters, for me, Alfred is "life": he brings joy, energy, ambition, positivity, motivation, hope and Francis is care: he brings comfort, seriousness, analytical thinking, stability and safety.

They are both confident and honest (they're not tsundere, when they love they say it and show it, they speak their mind and if someone's offended, well too bad for them) they both have a pretty bad reputation compared to other countries but at least they have each other. Neither of them is jaded, they are absolutely passionate about the art they love and commited when it comes to romance. In my headcanon their relationship is really sweet, but also deep, like they talk, they often disagree but it makes them grow and better themselves. God I love them.
