Description Deep inside me there is a desire,
When I look at those boys,
A feeling, A Want, A love.

I should fancy girls,
my best friends sister,
the ones that every other boy fancies

My body is sick,
Its a disease,
I hate me,
I hate gays.

I want to be normal.

--

One of three

--

I love that I'm gay. It's who I am and there is no changing that and I don't want to. Yet there are too many people out there who do want to change who they are, or feel that they are in the wrong for being gay. For me... its natural.

I love boys. [men/guys/males]

I got some help from close friends during the hard times when I first came to terms with it. Too many people today don't get the help. They think that they are odd, its un-natural. They are hated and they hate themselves. Too many people would gladly cut that little dotted line to end the pain of just being themselves.

I'm gay and proud. Support those who need it. F*ck Homophobia.

My Strength is what's helped me dealing with an unimaginable situation.

And for any young or adult person going through similar issues as this picture may bring to mind, all i would say (from my personal experience)... is that , in the end, acceptance is the key to your happiness, and thats all that matters...

Once again great pic, and thanks for the provocative caption.

Great picture...

I wish i established my passion for photography at my stage of accepting who and what i am.

Coming from a hard line- Middle Eastern Background, i know the photographs id of expressed would be very similar and along the lines of this.

However, raised in that environment, it makes you who you are... creates a inner strength and beauty so powerful, nothing can defeat it. In a strange way, im glad i went through hell.

Fantastic Emotive Caption.

[Thank you for your wonderful comment, and sorry its taken me a month to get back in replying...]

I suppose you are right in many ways. Especially about your comment how you're glad you went through hell ... because by doing that... it makes you strong. It makes you completely someone else. You faught through everything and this reflects in who you are today.

It's so good to hear such a powerful response to my photo, thank you.

Keep strong Jay

What i can't understand is why people despise and blame gays when they've done nothing wrong at all--they just are. i just can't understand why people are so evil. WHY? it's really about who you are inside. people claim i'm niave and stupid for believing that but they're all just religious hypocrites if you ask me.
i'm christian and i believe that everyone deserves a chance at love. and no man is as high enough to take that right away. i have faith that there is a god who loves all of us--gays included.
very meaningful picture and poem. very moving.
go on and live who you are.

[Thank you for your comment KindHeart and sorry that its taken me forever to get back to you, I completely neglected my account for a month oops]

As for your comment, there will never be a time within society when a group of people, whoever they are, are not attacked by someone else, a different group. If its religious or if its just through sheer violence and dislike, it will always be the way.

Yet sometimes you have to have faith that over time things will change, and they are - slowly.

Fighting homophobia is an on going campaign and its slow but worth while. I look forward to the day when I can walk hand in hand with my boyfriend, my partner, my lover, Through the streets, through the towns and disappear into society as one.

*sighs*

But alas, thats not going to happen today, so thank you again for sharing your views. It's good to see someone feeling very angry especially from a religious background that some people have upon 'us'.

Thanks again

oh my god. I nearly thought that it was your actual opinion. *wipes sweat off forehead*
Your picture and poem is really good. It really makes me thinking of how this can really happen. I hate that it is actually a real issue.
I'm glad you got the support when you started to face it. It's sad that some don't and think that they are abnormal. It fact I think it is very natural and therefore normal.

I really like the lightning in your picture.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bobakey In reply to appleheart [2007-01-14 17:05:57 +0000 UTC]

I think that in relation to my views on my sexuality well, it is who I am, and I can't change that. Because at the end of the day whatever my views are, they are natural for me. Just like any straight person feels completely 'normal' with being with the oposite sex, well, I feel the same, just of course the other way around hehe.

It's a shame that there are so many people who get abused or retreat because they think/can't be accepted by society. *sighs*

Thank you for your wonderful comment though, I'm glad you liked this. Thank you's!

I understand how hard it is to walk through the hallways at school with my girlfriend and have people stare and whisper behind their hands to each other. I moved recently to this town in hopes the harassment and abuse would stop, but I realized it wouldn't. I've made so many friends here right from the beginning who support me and love me for who I am, and I know most people don't have that. I'm glad you're happy with who you are. That makes me happy knowing that. This piece is really sad, and I hope I can help people who need it and are too afraid to ask.

I consider myself a homophobic but I say to you and to all gays: "be yourself"! Be a gay is not a disease or a psico-problem. Don't feel bad for being gays and don't hate yourselfs! F**k what I and other homophobics worst than me think. Be yourselfs. Don't forget that gay means Good As You!

I've never thought gays are not normal or odd.I have a friend who's also a gay.He told me he felt so lucky to let the public know that he's a gay and he's been happy with the current status to be himself though he'd been through hard times. The only meaning of our lives is just find out who we really are, what we want and go for it!Each of us is unique. And we have a lot on our own to seek,to find,to consider of,to be aware of,to value...and to upgrade.Enjoy your life.
Peace

I suppose its lucky then that I have truely found who I am. I know that for alot of people I am seen as different, seen as a sinner or just as "a gay".. but to be honest, even though people will still throw nasty comments and look away. I'm Happy.

And thats all that matters.

It's just a shame that so many people, not just in my country, but around the world who can't be who they want to be. Or that they feel ASHAMED for being who they really are because its not 'right'... its awful.

I hate homophobia as well... and this is where this photo stems form. FCUK homophobia

Really like the way in which you've used photography to express such an important topic and done it so well I totally agree with you that homophobia is wrong, its a great evil and exists because people are to ignorent or afriad of anyone else different to them, I don't get why people are still so hatefull even today after all thats happened throughout human history . It really depresses me the way people can still think like that. Oh well good job, nice shoot and noble concept take care of ya self

bobakey In reply to Naksatra [2005-06-27 18:42:04 +0000 UTC]

wow again for the fantastic comment! I suppose this is what goes on in my mind one hell of alot of the time. My sexuality is like a hot topic for conversations, its something that never just leaves you. It's a label, its a life, its a feeling and worse of all its an excuse for hate...

I suppose one good thing about all this is that being gay, bi, trans within a society is becoming more acceptable - which is brilliant. BUT that doesn't mean that there isn't homophobia about us. It's something that we are dealing with... constantly.

We each have our own opinion of different subjects, race, sexuality, age - but that isn't an excuse to discriminate.

Well thats my little rant over and done with [as you can tell this is something which really hits the anger buttons ... GRR]

Thanks again for the amazing comment, and above all - thank you for your support.

F*ck Homophobia

I like this one much better because of the background being darker. This could be really cool as a serious like different things written on wrists like "I'm Pregnant" "Rejected" and all types of things which might make you want to slit your wrists. (god I am morbid)

Aw, I'm glad you like Kate, I couldn't decide out the three which one I liked so *shrugs* I went with all three, *leans in close to you and whispers* I have some plans to actually do a series on 'signs' - the idea being printing out "sayings" and then placing them in the picture, if you get me. *leans out again* I've always wanted to do a 'gay series' - it seems sad but its something which is always concerning me. - hmm I like the whole idea of "pregnant" and "rejected" *formulates some plans to make sister pregnant" hehe - not morbid, but creative! Thanks kate *mwah*
