Find more stuff by me on Twitter , Tumblr , and Instagram !So yeah. Finally took a serious crack at the main characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Obviously this is my own take on designs for Jack and Sally rather than trying to recreate the look of the puppets from the original film, and I think that seems to have worked pretty well. I think Sally changed the least in my interpretation of her, but there are some obvious differences when compared to her official look, probably most clearly demonstrated by the (hopefully) more realistic proportions. Her limbs are a bit shorter and thicker, her hands and feet are larger, and the details of her face are a bit smaller. I tried to recreate the details of the pattern on her dress as seen in the film, though I gave it a bit more volume and length to accentuate the mood I was trying to create, and I attempted to include the scars and stitches in the same places they were in the original design. Jack looks the most drastically different, as I opted to draw him with as realistic-a skeleton as possible at this scale, though this did let me keep him in similar sort of proportions as the original design. I haven't included the stripes on his suit just yet, as I felt they would look best when added with paints. I didn't want to add too much of a background to this piece, as I felt that it would distract from the two characters, but I did add some elements to dodge just having them floating in a void. The banner was pretty fun to draw, as was developing the gothic-style font used on it, and I thought it would be fun and in-keeping with the spirit of the film to add some bats carrying the banner itself. Behind this aspect of the picture, I decided to include some geometric spirals, as I felt that these were design elements that are often seen in the film and in posters that have been made over the last few years. So yeah, this is maybe a bit of an unorthodox version of these characters, but I think it's started off nicely.
