“Don’t tell me what I can do, You aren’t Mother.” Menefer snapped back at Aubra then yelled to Frigga. “Let’s go!’

The two girls ran off down the path that led to the pond, leaving Aubra looking stunned and hurt. Menefer felt a little guilty, but mostly justified at exercising her independence. Aubra was always telling her what to do and doubting her ability.

“Why did you say that to Aubra?” Frigga asked Menefer when they had reached the far side of the pond. “She was just doing what mom asked her too.”

“She was being rude, she’s been touchy and mean for weeks now. I don’t have to put up with it.” Menefer was torn between a brewing resentment and a deep adoration of her eldest sister. She had always loved Aubra, she was fun and always there, but she repeatedly told them how to do things as if the two of them were not smart enough to get it the first time. That annoyed Menefer more than anything.
