Hear Hear!!...very mature your response, most of the time when I try to criticize other's work, I get bashed badly, but you understood my point and said what you think of it, which is great, not a lot of people like to explain sometimes. I do like anime, a lot, quite frankly though, I get sick sometimes of seeing it all over the internet, but on the other hand, many people think that if you draw a character with big eyes, or long slim arms and legs is anime right away, which is like generalizing all art forms as anime, and its flat out wrong.
I loved the character, theres no doubt about that, the armor and the sword were great, and thanxs for answering. Hope to see more of your work as a DD ehhe

The detailing on this is very well done, I can definitely see the time put into this. your choice of shadows/highlights for the armour and his whole outfit was very well placed, I really like how so many of the metallic things look the way they're supposed to, especially in contrast to the softer, black fabric. I am most impressed with the sword's design, especially that part near the handle, that seems to pop out the most to me as the most realistic feature. His design overall is VERY cool. The only thing from me personally is that I think it'd be cool if he had some funky headgear to go along with the rest of his eye-candy outfit. I spent about five minutes examing his body as opposed to his face, but I guess that might also be the effect you're going for.
My only real critique for this would be the wings. Everything apart from that I really love, but the wings strike me odd because of the way they are shaded. i love how you went for the feather-texture idea, but (I think) this threw off the rest of your shading scheme. The feather texture is so strong that the wings don't appear affected by light at all, and thus they don't appear to have the same shadows as the guy, and they don't have as many shading colours either -- just the light blue. I think a bit more variety with shading colours would give them a lot more depth (for instance, darker blues or lavenders/grays), and would give the design more unity, because right now, I seem them apart from the character.
but don't let that bring u down, this is a fantastic art piece and you should be proud of the many hours you put into this and what resulted from it

Wow! Thank you for the lovely critique! It's always nice to get some good solid feedback! I agree about the wings, I'm not fond of how they came out... but it took me so long to do that I just left them as they were! I didn't put any headgear on him because I'm trying to do more of a profile pic of the character, and this time around I wanted everyone to get a good look at their faces and hair!

I'm glad you appreciated my comment :3. I was hoping it wasn't too harsh before because I know how it feels to spend 16+ hours on something (and on the computer, the process seems to be like 1,200,230,400 hours longer ><

Yeah, that IS way too Asian. Before even reading your description, that's the first thing I noticed. One way to reduce it is to give him closed shoes or to take off his socks.

Well, I've been drawing in this style for just under 10 years so it's been a real process to get to this level! Just KEEP PRACTICING! That's all I can say, just do your best and the hard work WILL pay off!

You did a great work with this character, i like the costume design and the way you did the wings, the negative is that even tho the swork has one kick ass design, it isn't very practical, it looks very unconfortable to handdle
i see a lot of influence from the CLAMP characters
