John Lennon the musician was pretty hip on this idea.
Its tricky, relgion is used alot by state, if relgion was not there then something else would be used(let us remember even pure science itself gave birth to eugenics). Although I will agree with you absolutely most of the time it has been a vehical for violence, such a great excuse to use somebody like God to justify ones action, so smug and good feeling. Schools of matrial arts have had wars, schools of pure philosophy(confusionism vs toaism) have, greek city states have had wars over land, even in mythos people have had wars over the stealing of other peoples wives, like helen of troy. The truth is humanity just plain hates the individual, they love to form groups, make up justifications and then kill anything not like them because they are scared or greedy. I still feel ulitmately your view should be expressed more often, if not at the very least for people to realize the inheirent counterdiction of there actions versus the words of there own holy books. I am personally sick of people using a relgion to hide behind the fact that there liars, murders and thieves.

It's true though, if you think about it cynically... As for it being offensive... I find cute cuddly teddy bears more offensive than that.
According to the other guy: "yours is an idiot". I don't know whether to take it seriously or not. I mean look at his recent image 'Stand out'. Few people are "differnt". It must be true... I've never heard of anyone being "differnt". In fact, I find that more offensive than this.
