“Oh, no!” Lauren cried, looking up at the looming giant. “The giant’s got me! Somebody save me!”
Alex giggled, reaching her hand down and closing her fingers around her mother’s tiny body. “Nobody can save you now, tiny!”
“What are you going to do with me, you awful giant?”
Alex lifted her little mom before her face and licked her lips. “I’m gonna eat ya!”
“Nooo!” Lauren yelled, pounding her tiny fists on her daughter’s huge fingers. “Don’t eat me! Please! I’ll taste terrible!”
From her hiding place under the nightstand, Carly just shook her head. But she did watch what happened next with some interest.
When Lauren was indeed brought to the huge lips, Carly had a brief second of trepidation. Then Alex merely gave her tiny mom a few licks on the face and giggled some more.
“Okay,” said Alex now, glancing around the room. “Now, where’s my other doll?”
Carly was extremely comfortable with her hiding place, both because of her tiny size and because of the general clutter of an eight-year-old’s bedroom.
Of course, a second later, Lauren, still pinned inside her daughter’s fist, pointed across the room – directly at Carly and her hiding place.
Carly pressed back into the wall beneath the nightstand.
She closed her eyes.
