This is the finished piece it is of Giraffe bone ,Elk Antler and sterling silver collar joining the two pieces together. The piece was Commissioned and carved on site at pennsic war by a gentileman for his wife ,as an anniversary gift. She loved it !the runes say Asta beloved of Valdur!

thank you very much!!! This piece,belive it or not, literally sat on my work bench for 4 years before Valdur(Asta'Husband) came to me at the Pennsic war, at my booth and asked me if i could carve it for his wife as an anniversary gift, when he saw it sitting on my work table. Then every thing just clicked and Frigg let me finish it. Everything fell into place as if it was now its time and place to be. The piece would NOT let me work on it before then. So ya the Goddess Frigg let me do her likeness for Asta(Valdurs wife) in this needle case. The Carving motif/style i used for Frigg is similar to the 13th century Norwegian louis chessman, the hawk is from a slightly earlier period design,I think they both worked very well together.
