Several Major Events in the previous year (68ME):

In Bonanza, the Bonanzan Missile Crisis comes to an end by a coup d'etat launched by General Vargas against the Emporian-backed President Saldana. Shortly after the coup, forces loyal to Vargas attacked and captured the Emporian Grechko Naval Base, with some speculating the GIA and or Terranolian commandos being involved. Vargas as president makes his first decision to sever ties with Emporia and the ICC for allowing the missile crisis to take place, potentially destroying the island nation and the world. Also being a supporter of the United Union, Vargas sought to have SFR Bonanza become a member of the organization to strengthen the nation's military and ties with neighbors in the region. After months long negotiations and a hastily referendum, Bonanza was admitted to the United Union in December of 68ME.

In the USG, Congress with a vote of 14-9 passes a bill cutting back on foreign aid. The bill, when officially enacted, will effectively reduce foreign spending by 20%. However President Boone vetoed the bill and congress was unable to revive it as they were focusing on other bills since elections are being held in 70ME.

The DOAB League, an organization that once dominated the flow of oil from Desergolia has now officially been declared defunct. Political pressure from two members of the organization, Asades and Oa’asos, had voiced their concerns for years to Desertkastan over the distribution of profit and sales. In response, Desertkastan down played their concerns, resulting in Asades withdrawing from the organization in 65ME and Oa’asos in 67ME. Burunday, another member, facing political pressure from allies as well the former DOAB members, withdrew in 68ME. DOAB Secretary General and leader of Desertkastan, Khaled Al-Hussain officially announces the dissolution of the organization.

East of Faudia, on the Tafari Islands, rumors of genocide taking place in Zarabahri gains the attention of major news networks in Boropa. But due to the government’s tight control on communications and the barring of reporters, it has become difficult to verify these claims. However, Karen Livingston, a reporter for the Angolese Cable Broadcasting Corporation (ACBC), and her crew snuck into the country and documented several instances of soldiers razing Lomoji villages and massacring civilians in the Kasunga region. Ms. Livingston and her team were arrested but her footage was leaked to the world exposing atrocities being committed by the Zarabahri military. The international community condemned Zarabahri and demanded a cessation of hostilities, the release of the reporters, and the entry of inspectors into the country.

In Pictrain, the far-right militant organizations, the Sarkis Reactionary Forces and the Sons of Piktikos, laid down their arms in accordance with peace talks held years prior. Prime Minister Tachid welcomed their actions as a step forward for Pictrain unity, thus ending the years long internal conflict. Many members of these organizations were pardoned as per the conditions of the peace talks, except for those who were found guilty of targeting civilians and or forces of the “United Union Peacekeeping Mission for Pictrain” or UUPMP for short.

The Mokes encountered a steep increase of territorial violations by Rapanan aircraft and naval vessels. These violations are concentrated in the Reef Islands, one of several locations the Rapanan Republic has claimed to be an integral part of their country. In order to counter threats and safeguard the sovereignty of The Mokes, President Tevita negotiated with Greenland Secretary of State, Joseph Morganfield to initiate “Operation Insulae Praesidium.” This effectively makes Greenland’s marines from the Los Garcia Base in The Mokes to participate in patrols and deter Rapanan forces if need be.
