Description
Aiko Sonkei (Ballad in the english version) is actually a old friend of Matsubara Kaoru (or Buttercup in the english version), having been going to her old elementery school as a kid. Unfortunatly, she had to move to america after her father was divorced, and it's unknown why she moved back during the events of the show. While shocked at Matsubara's transformation to a tomboy, she dosen't mind it. In fact, Aiko only wants to reconnect to her because of their differences.Aiko, in contrast to Matsubara, is a calm, sensible and polite character, always using honorifics and trying to be the most polite she can. This annoys Matsubara, but she deals with it like any other friend would, abiet reluctantly. Aiko also is a "mom friend", an over protector, and the voice of reason for the group, both in heroics and out.
During the explosion and scattering of the Chemical Z, Aiko was watching her younger siblings preform a concert for her arrival. One of her sisters, Akari, was playing the tamborine and singing loudly like the little diva she was. That's when the chemicals started to rain down on the city, and in a panic, everybody ran inside.
Well, almost everyone. Little Akari was too busy singing to notice the light about to hit her, and Aiko quickly covered her with a hug, transforming her into Bashing Ballad.
Her transformation magic resembles music notes, her signature color is lavender, and her weapons are tamborines, which are mostly used for long distance and defensive attacks.
The signature moves she wields include "Seismic Soundwave", which creates an earthquake that can knock enemies back, "Song Shield", which can create a temporary shield for herself and others who are nearby, "Sonic Song", which produces ear-piercing sounds that stun the enemy (like nails on a chalk board), "Throw Tune", which includes throwing the tamorine like a boomerang, and "Final Curtain", which traps the villain in a music staff rope that she summons by playing the tambourine. She usually uses "Final Curtain" last, hence the name.
Her special power, "Ballad Finish", allows her to shoot out giant music notes from her banging the tamborine, which can easilly crush her enemies and their surroundings.
