Becky Byte: "Are you kidding? Obviously Bowser. He has fire breath, unlimited hammer ammo, and a ground pound that breaks bricks Mario couldn't even dream of breaking. Donkey Kong just throws barrels..."

Raul: "Ok, eyes up, everyone. My name is Raul, and thank you for participating in this game show about games. How meta of you. Anyway, how many people are playing?"

Raul: "3 of you? Sounds good to me. Player 1, type in your name, please."

Crew Female 2: "So, as I was saying, why do we have a female host this time? Is it to make history or something?"

Crew Male 4: "Nah, Becky's just sassy as heck and knows a lot about all types of games, especially arcade ones. In fact, I heard she got a high score in..."

Crew Female 3: "Pass me some more concealer, will ya, honey?"

Raul: "Nice. Player 2, Luigi, whatever you're called, I need to know."

"45 seconds!"

Becky Byte: "See you boys later..."

Helen: "Has anyone seen Cookie?"

Crew Female 2: "He's off this week. I believe it has something to do with Y2K-proofing his computer."

Raul: "Great. Now, Player 3, let's see what your name is."

Crew Male 3: "Heck if I know."

Schmitty: "Sorry I'm late, Helen-"

Helen: "It's fine, just hurry up and get ready."

Raul: "Thanks. Real quick, are you looking for a 7 or 21 question game?"

Crew Male 4: "Has anyone seen my UNO cards?"

Raul: "Good choice."

"30 seconds!"

Raul: "Ok, player 1, your buzzer is the letter Q, as in Q-Bert. Player 2, your buzzer is the letter B, as in Bubble Bobble. And player 3, your buzzer is the letter P, as in Pac-Man."

Crew Male 3: "Jesus Christ, Alan, I just got this shirt dry cleaned an hour ago!"

Crew Male 2: "I'm so sorry, let me see if I can wipe it off-"

Crew Male 3: "Don't touch that!"

Crew Female 2: "20 seconds!"

Raul: "Oh shoot, uh, listen up. A lot of people get confused with this, so just to make it clear: when a question comes up, if you want it, buzz in first. Then hit 1,2,3 or 4 to pick an answer, or if it's a fill in the blank, just type it in. Got it?"

"10 seconds! 9, 8...."

Raul: "Good luck!"

Helen: "Ok, let's get rid of that desktop...and go to black. Becky, stand by."

"...3...2..."

Commerical: "....and try our alcohol-based BA-Console Cleaner, because even modern consoles need a freakin' drink once and awhile."

Text on screen: Game over, Jack. (beat) Game Over.

(Slam, logo appears, then subtitle, and an 16 bit theme of YDKJ plays in the background)

Schmitty: "It's time for the show where high culture and pop culture collide!"

Becky Byte: "Hey, hey, hey, the name's Becky Byte! I'm personally glad you all stuck around, cuz' this is one game that won't rot your brain! We learn loads of things here, dad! I'm being a useful member of society! Ahem...sorry about that."

Becky Byte: "Ah, 3 players, that's nice to see. Just to be clear, if any of you think I'm going to go easy on you just because I'm a woman, then you're either dead wrong or just plain crazy. So watch out."

Becky Byte: "Before we begin, let's give you all some power-ups, shall we? Watch out, screws are coming in hot!"

Becky Byte: "Ok, so say that you're stuck on a particularly hard question, and you see your opponent is just as confused on how to beat the level. What do you do? Screw em! Just hit the S key and choose your target. Then they gotta answer fast, or risk losing a few coins. Remember, press S to screw. Pretty convenient, huh?"

Becky Byte: "Well, is everyone ready? Then let's blow on the cartridge and roll some dice."

IDK what to call this, I guess it's a You Don't Know Jack-sona? Host-sona? Whatever.

I just wanted to draw a female YDKJ self-insert of some kind, and then fellow tumblr user @/pigspeetsandhooflikefeets posted this image of a YDKJ hostsona, mentioning that Schmitty made a joke about having an entry focused on video games.

And honestly? I thought it was the perfect concept! So here we are.

Some stuff about her:

- Her full name is Rebecca Buchholz (pronouced Boo-Hwurts), but she goes by Becky Byte most of the time due to the last name being hard to pronounce.

- YDKJ Games, in my HC, would've come out in 1998, shortly after YDKJ Television but before The Ride. Rather than focusing on just one type of game, the title would instead have trivia questions on all sorts of games, mainly board, computer and home console/arcade ones. All of which Becky happens to be at least 50% knowledgeable on.

- She's secretly a calico-patterned werecat during full moons, and if she had her way, nobody would know. Though some people really close to her do know, like Buzz and Nate. (Becky's Werecat Form )

- She is childhood friends with Nate Shapiro and Buzz Lippman; they've been hanging out with each other since they were in diapers. This association was more than enough to get the job as host, though her aforementioned game knowledge and great stage presence certainly helped matters.

- Her personality as a host? Well, she's pretty peppy, but she has a ton of sass to offset that. If you got an answer wrong, you most certainly will hear the disdain in her voice, but keep getting things right and you'll hear her fan-girl excitement loud and clear.

- Also, she curses A LOT. Especially off-game, but during her games the bleep button certainly gets some use.

- "C'mon, work with me here!" is pretty much her catchphrase given how often she says it.

- If you do the f you Easter Egg the first time, she'd say "Woah, ok, slow down there, champ! I only date girls who get to know me first, and guys are 100% off limits!", confirming that she's a lesbian. If you do it a second time, she says that if it's a joke, it certainly isn't funny, and threatens to end the game if the contestants don't "grow the hell up!" (her words, not mine) If you do it a third, she gets mad that you're harassing her (whether it was a joke or not), actually calls security, and the game quits like normal.

- She's actually a competitive arcade game player when not hosting, and has gotten a bunch of high scores in a lot of obscure titles. Her favorite genre is arcade fighting games.

- Still wears braces due to her misaligned werecat teeth, doesn't mind it though.

- Nowadays, Becky's the main consultant for video game-themed questions. She still wishes for a comeback, but knows not to hold her breath about it.

- Often is the one to encourage Buzz to try new things and to come out of his socially awkward shell a bit. In other words, she's the extrovert to Buzz's introverted nature.

- The other hosts treat her like a big sister friend, which she appreciates wholeheartedly. However, that doesn't mean she'll go easy on them when playing Smash Brothers.
