"Long, long, ago, in the prosperous Moon Kingdom, Queen Selene gave birth to the future moon princess, of which she named Serenity. She grew up to be the most beautiful girl you'd ever seen, but also a bit childish and stubborn.Of course, Queen Selene always warned Serenity to never go to earth, due to an ongoing war between the Black Moon Kingdom that was rumored to be stationed there. But, blinded by curiosity, she one day snuck out, only to find the Prince of earth, Prince Endymion, watching her. The two became friends, and after subsequent visits, fell in love.
However, the Black Moon Army, led by Queen Metallica, began to take over both the moon kingdom and earth after noticing that Serenity snuck from her post. During the resulting battle, Prince Endymion was turned to stone whilst shielding Serenity, which caused her to take out her Moon Gem from her heart in grief. Her guardians, the inner Solar Cures, also did so that they can be reborn to protect her again. Meanwhile, Queen Selene used her last moments to send the cures' gems, including Endymion's, to earth so they can be reborn. She also sent along the fairies Luna and Artemis to the present in order to find the cure's reincarnations and to restore the kingdom's former glory. Unfortunately, the Queen and her kingdom was turned to stone shortly after.
Whilst searching for the new sailor guardians, Mizuno Ami decides to recruit the shrine priestess Hino Rei, known for her magical fire powers and ability to purify evil influences. However, Rei is already aware of their presence, and is not pleased, thinking that they're the people summoning the Youmas. But after the true person summoning the Youmas is revealed, and as her pet crows-turned-Youmas prove hard for Cure Stream and Serenity, Rei realizes and regrets her mistake. Her desire to make it up allows her to transform into Cure Priestess.

Abilities:
- Thanks to the prism brooch (プリズムブローチ Purizumuburōchi) and the Mars Gem, she has the ability to stun enemies with her ofudas, as well as to control fire in general.
Attacks:
"Mars Burning Mandala!" (マーズバーニングマンダラ! Māzubāningumandara!) Basic attack, summoned with the Crystal Stick (クリスタルスティックKurisutarusutikku). similar to the attack of the same name in the live-action series. This can purify Jadeite's Youmas and stun stronger ones.
"Mars Snake Mandala!" (マーズ蛇マンダラ！Māzu hebi mandara!) Upgraded attack, the giant wave of fire turns into a snake that coils around the enemy. This can purify Nephrite's Youmas and stun stronger ones.
"Pretty Cure! Planet Attack!" (プリキュア！プラネットアタック！Purikyua! Puranettoatakku!) -First group attack before Cure Luna joins, basically the moonlight attractive attack from the live action series ( sailormoon.fandom.com/wiki/Moo… ). This can purify Zoistite's Youmas.
"Pretty Cure! Royal Planet Attack!" (ロイヤルプラネットアタック！Roiyarupuranettoatakku!)- Second group attack after luna joins, a stronger version of Planet Attack that involves the cures being in their Princess Forms. This can purify Kunzite's Youmas.
