Description Basig Design of the new icon screen in our church, no shading.

****************************************

So my church is going through some renovations, including a complete redesign of the alter and Iconostasion, or icon screen. The Priest's son, who is in charge of the renovations, asked my mom to do some drawings so the church members could get an idea of what it would look like. My mom, feling stuck, asked me to read the research materials and do some sketches to help her foucus and figure out the structure.

Using my sketches, and a few pictures, my mom drew up a version like this, but with a tall gate that rises directly above the central doors, which the Priest's son had detailed. However, having discussed the constuction with him, I had also sketched this design, which echoed the Byzantine idea of stacking arches and had a central arching gate that framed the Platytera (the large icon in the rear). We sent these to the Priest's son too, since he expressed interest.

I have no clue which design will be used, but I liked this one enough to want to post it here.

The icons, from left to right, The Archangel Michael, The Holy Trinity (the name of our church), (Blank), The Theotokos, Jesus, St. John the Baptist (As the Angel of the Desert), (Blank), and The Archangel Gabriel.
