Gaia is the Deity of Nature in the Angela (Which, by the way, is pronounced as an- gehl-ah. G does not make the J sound. ) series. She plays an important role in the first book especially.Inspired from the greek goddess from whom her name is directly taken. She's not the first who's name is based directly from another's. There are others as well. To name a couple: the dragon Fafnir, and the dagger Sigfried who's name is taken from the alternative name of Sigurd who slew Fafnir. It's a legend of old Norse Mythology. Gotta love the Norse.
