Here's my entry for 's Movie!Zhao contest. I thought it was endlessly amusing that Aasif Mandvi from The Daily Show was cast as Admiral Zhao for Airbender, so I combined the two in a spoof: The Daily Show of the Fire Nation! Knowing Lord Ozai, probably the shortest lived show, um, ever. Totally stole the Republican joke from Jon's hosting of the oscars, BTW.I tried to guess how Zhao would look as best I can, but it's only a guess. Those sideburns better show up though, or I will be extremely sad!faise.

Awesome drawing! This is exactly how I picture Aasif acting in the movie. But seriously I am concerned about the fact that he was cast for the part.

First of all, the Republicans already tried to win with a 100-year old candidate in 2008, and second of all, I'd say the Avatar will be more likely to be an independant or democrat. But, other than that, LOL! It would be pretty funny if they actually showed this on The Daily Show, or the Colbert Report!

XD And hmm, even though we don't have any pictures of him yet (I wonder if Zhao will have dreadlock sideburns myself) once again, how are the firebenders the darkest of the bunch?

Well, assuming they live closest to the equator, being Fire Nation and all, it would sort of make sense. Of course, that's a rather general and unbased hypothesis.

I was just referring to that, in the cartoon, the Fire Nation was arguably the palest of them all (Earth and Water were darker anyway) and I'm starting to get worried that the Fire Nation will be filled with "scary black guys" since, well, it's a bad stereotype to start with.

But is that worse than having no black guys at all? Avatar-verse seems conspicuously missing in those.

I actually think that no black guys at all is better than highly stereotyped black guys, and you have to admit that a good number of movies don't have black guys (or gals) in them either.
And I always assumed there were black people in the Earth Nation actually, it just made sense to me.

Actually Piando had dark skin, as did certain other minor characters in the Fire Nation.
Some Water Tribe member (Hamma) were also pale.
The Earth Kingdom was also very diverse with people both pale and not.
The Air nomads were the least diverse but that's about it.
Actually, it seems like it wasn't so much race but elements and nationality (country/tribe born in) which seperated people.
