When I reflect on my human existence, I sometimes find myself thinking about two entities from Greek mythology, Sisyphus and Minotaur. Sisyphus was punished by Zeus for cheating death twice by being forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity. There is something about the repetitive nature of daily existence that to me often feels very Sisyphean. Minotaur is half human, half beast creature trapped in the center of the labyrinth. To me personally the beast/human duality encompasses the human struggle between the ration and impulsive mind. And the labyrinth represents the complicated journey through life. For me merging all of this things together seems to be an interesting way to describe the complexity of life. Life can sometimes feel like a strange repetitive Sisyphean struggle, while trying to keep the balance between the ration and impulsive mind, all the while making my way through the labyrinth of life, seeking meaning, fulfillment, purpose, happiness. It can all feel rather strange sometimes.
