Sometimes I wonder if that which I describe as ideas, visions, and epiphanies, are not a product of my mind, but perhaps come from an external source. It’s rather interesting to contemplate that when I have an idea, a vision or an epiphany, that in some way it could be a window into something else. When I really think about where ideas come from, well, it all seems rather ephemeral, ethereal and really hard to grasp. It could just be that indeed it is a product of my mind, but it’s more fun to contemplate the possibility that there is more to it. This sort of thinking is why I was intrigued with the idea of Pasithea from Greek mythology. She is the personification of relaxation, meditation, hallucinations and all other altered states of consciousness. It’s intriguing to imagine that perhaps ideas, visions and epiphanies are a product of some divine intervention. It sounds enchanting, kind of magical, which is precisely what I wanted to capture with this piece.
