Just an explanation, since it seems that a lot of people need it
Oh, and now they made a change - they added more badges, and made some of them easier to get. The new list is a follows:
Llama = 1
Super Llama = 10
Albino Llama = 50
Super Albino Llama = 100
Ninja Llama = 500
Fancy Llama = 1,000
King Llama = 2,500
Spartan Llama = 5,000
Wizard Llama = 7,500
Golden Llama = 10,000

so there is no benefit you can get from getting/giving llamas basically.
llamas are just for fun to get and give
cool then
but then people these days treat llamas as a competition. and that's sad bc llamas are too cool to be used for "competitions" where they were just made to make deviantart fun.

I always thought that it's a subtle way to taunt others. Like, you give them lLAMa badge to signify how LAMe they are. Did recieve a few of those and concluded so since my stuff is pretty lame, just as you'd expect from a beginner lol

They give you a llama because they expect to receive a llama badge from you in order to get a very cool golden llama..
you just decide to give a llama in return or ignore, both options are fine.
