Ive been dying to do a sci-fi monster piece for a long time now and this one has elements that ive been trying to incorporate into a composition for a long time.
I glanced at a few photos of various abandoned factories, camcorders and CDC biohazard suits for accuracy's sake, in addition to several close-up stills of a couple 80's horror movies used to get the expression I wanted for the foreground victim.

Looks like Resident Evil, or Doom. Extremely well done. Great job it looks so sharp. I like the worker on the right, his worried expression. He looks real and you can feel his worry too. Nice job.

You really should be praised, not only because the image itself is amazing, but the fact that it's all digital, that you did it in Photoshop from scratch, and all the small details like the faces and the screens... man, you can really tell you put a lot of effort into it...

I completely know the feeling, just because you used an image doesn't mean you stole or traced it, sometimes you just need a reference or something to study, and that's what one of my art books say, (not in the exact words) If you can't get inspiration, or need some help, just go through some photos and use them as a reference to spark your imagination, just because you used a photo doesn't mean you stole the idea.
Great job though, very realistic looking, and to me, it gives that Resident Evil feel to it, and I love Resident Evil. Meaning I really like this.

I unfortunately had to put that in, I was getting some ugly notes accusing me of using photomanipulaion and then lying about it - it just ends up being a compliment really.
I use photos to achieve accuracy for the hand-drawing result only and I rarely use them, but id actually like to start using them more since my goal is to achieve suspension of disbelief as much as humanly possible.
I still have so far to go, but I cant wait to learn.
