BIG thanks to my model Ellana for working with me and putting everything into creating art, she jumped around my studio covered in flour for 2 hours to get these images.

Wow. This is what I call artistic nude. Other photographers should strive to have photos of this quality, even if they have to look to other photos for inspiration. The pose is so free and beautiful and the lighting is so dramatic and the flour in the air adds even more interest...the model and the photographer simply both did an amazing job.

When I looked at the thumbnail I thought this was a pic of tinker bell.

I wanted to capture rays of light in old fabric buildings for a long time now. Made my mind up what substances I could use best to make them visible. When I read the description I thought this might be perfect until I looked the word up and discovered that it is exactly what I had in mind all the time

My favorites gallery is an intentional political statement aimed towards the vague standards of censorship employed here at DA. I don't mind the site having standards, or enforcing them. What I mind is the lack of a fixed set of guidelines, and the fact that site moderators are given what seems to be complete latitude in determining what stays and what goes, to the point that enforcement seems to clearly be a matter of personal taste more than anything else. This reflects itself in unfair application so often it basically translates into no standard at all.
As relates to my favorites gallery; there are a few notable exceptions. This is one of them. This is a magical shot. She is almost painfully beautiful. The innocence of the moment, and what seems to be her clear joy in the dance, is a visual pleasure. That she is naked is nearly irrelevant.
It is amazing to me to consider that, had you snapped this shot a half second earlier, or later, we might not be seeing this wonderful moment at all.

All censorship ultimately boils down to a matter of opinion, does it not? Thus, it is all arbitrary and ultimately unfair.

What renders it (censorship) acceptable, in my opinion, is adopting a standard or set of guidelines that is uniformly applied. DA is a private entity. Thus, of course, it's owner may establish any standard he wishes. My complaint is the absence of guidelines which are sufficiently uniform so that they are easily understood by those to whom they apply, and by those who apply them.
I'm not a crusader. I've never commented to any moderator regarding my opinion. I simply fill my favorites gallery with images which are similar to images I know have been previously affected by what passes for the censorship standard employed here. If you casually track the efforts of several moderators in applying censorship to various images, you rapidly discover that the only explanation that explains their actions is that each moderator is allowed to determine on their own what is and is not acceptable. Personal opinion, when applied to a larger community, is (in my opinion) the worst standard by which to govern censorship.
I suspect that neither the owner, nor those he chooses as moderators, are intentionally trying to apply an unfair standard. Still, I can recall more than a handful of instances where a moderator stated in a post that, for example; an image which shows someone touching their genitals defies so called "community standards"... yet such images may be found throughout the site with little effort. The same can be said about images of all kinds. So-called "lolita", or "lolly" images, images involving erotic encounters between two or more models, engaging in acts which border on overtly sexual, etc., and of course, many, many images which are BDSM oriented. Another example would be images depicting the penis. a standard which is referred to often by moderators is that the penis may not be erect. This includes partial erections.
I feel it is probably not necessary for me to describe for you how such a vaguely stated standard causes images that would otherwise be perfectly acceptable to be censored.
Additionally, even if you accept that each moderator is allowed to determine their own guidelines, such guidelines are never uniformly enforced. In 3 and a half years, I have observed cases where the same moderator, dealing with the gallery of a single deviant, censors one image of a given type, but ignores similar images in the same gallery.
Again, "taste" is not a standard by which I feel censorship should be applied to a larger community.
All of this is not very important, in the grand scheme. I have viewed the page of the owner of the site, as well as those of a number of the moderators. I realize that the great likelihood is that this site was never intended to grow as large and become as successful as it has. In the beginning, for the owner to have simply explained to his moderators that certain images are to be disallowed, for whatever reason, was enough. Now, with something on the order of 10 million members, it would not only be more fair, but more efficient, for them to take the time to determine, and then publish, more specific guidelines.
As an attempt to encourage them to do so, my favorites gallery stands as an example of images, all culled form this site, which demonstrate the inconsistent, and unfair way in which censorship is applied.
