Description
A working model for the fantasy satire series I'm writing (Legends of Steve the Wizard). Alestra is a post apocalyptic area of barren wastes, save for the four Great Houses built within oases the inhabitants call Sojourns. In order of largest to smallest, we have Avalon, Gaia, Leviathan and Hades. The High Born (Elves) rule Avalon and Gaia. The Low Born (Goblins of variety) rule Leviathan and the Beast Kin rule Hades.

The Dead Lands (lands outside the Sojourns) sap both physical strength and magic from travelers over time. However, traveling along Ley Lines mitigates this process, making travel between the Great Houses possible. As the map illustrates, there are no known Ley Lines outside of the Sojourn connections. If a House Lord would send a scout party into the outer Dead Lands, they wouldn't make it far.
