Description  I have had many people ask me about my animation since I started posting here again. This clip shows the basic progress steps I use for most of my animations.

I work in Toon Boom for the animation and occasionally use Photoshop for certain blur effects.

Once I have an idea of what I want, I get video reference to guide me with the basic movements. I then began to slowly build up the basic movement of the character before adding any additional details.

 - I work very rough since I never know what will work and what won't.

 - The first step is usually the hips and legs since most movements start here.

- Then I add in the movement of the torso, followed by the arms.

- Finally I add in the head in a basic shape, mostly working on volumes, not expressions.

All of these steps work if you are confident drawing your character in it's most basic form. If not, you may find that your character goes off model.

For the next steps I add in details of the outfit, one element at a time. At this point you can focus on adding in elements of the character that will respond to movement. In this case, it was the skirt and hair that needed to respond to his body movements.

In between ALL of these steps, I continually watch and scrub through the animation. making changes as necessary.

Now the drawings will need to be put through their first clean up process. After this, I remove the rough art and study the clean lines. I make changes as necessary.

From here, I add in tweens and finally go back through and clean up all the drawings to prepare them for coloring.

I hope this has been helpful.
