Description
The EM-2 Orion, near perigee, performs its first major post-separation maneuver to complete translunar injection. As the first manned Orion flight, EM-2 is currently baselined to be inserted into a 24 hour elliptical orbit by SLS Block 1, allowing it a full day to check out its systems (particularly the unproven life support equipment) before committing to TLI, which would force an abort time of up to a week. This profile is termed Multiple TLI.
