Description

Lockheed Martins MADV lifts off on an SLS Block 1B, currently the only planned rocket with the core diameter to support such a wide payload. This is the sort of thing SLS should be used for (and was originally advertised as supporting), very large monolithic payloads that can't easily be split into EELV-class launches (unlike the current plan of launching much of the Gateway as well as crew missions, all of which could be done by existing commercial systems nevermind what will exist in ~3 years)

Lockheed recently presented a paper on the MADV , with new information on the MADV itself as well as staging orbits and the propellant transport/depot architecture for the whole MBC system

I really like this, but I believe SLS will be cancelled before it flies in the 1b configuration. Lockheed Martin is going to have to catch a ride on their rivals BFR.
