Description This is the second page of the Yule section of my Illustrated Book of Shadows. [link] The border first was done as a graphite pencil drawing, then inked over with technical pen .30 and scanned into Photoshop where I added color, texture and the Art Deco border from Dover publications. The photo illustration of the mother and child illustrate the rebirth of the Sun God by the Great Mother and the beginning of lengthening days and the return to abundance. Yule is celebrated December 19-22 (depending on the year), the winter equinox and the longest night of the year. Unfortunately I am not able to give credit for the original mother and child photo, the face of the mother was also altered for a more serene look. The photo of the forest comes from a generous member of deviant art.

If you ever finish this book... I want a copy. It's amazing! I would never have the inspiration (let alone the skill) to create an image like this, but it's perfect. I know exactly what it represents without any description, title, or border necessary.
