"The Information Center, home to the Infomaniac, but you've already met him! Here, you select who you want to be, check your score, and find out what's in on LEGO Island!" - DJ "Mr. DJ Radio" Jackitt
This is officially my 100 deviation on this hellsite. Honestly kind of impressed I have a 100 things on here. Don't use it much at all except to post LEGO stuff in an easy accessible place for my LEGO friends, which also leaves me room to do a lot of ranting. Preferably, people will actually follow me on Instagram at brikmanmcstudz or Flickr at KingMcBlubber . I'll still probably post stuff here though, LEGO wise
With that said, not only is this my 100th deviation, its been 10 years since I first uploaded this Information Center to the internet! It was my first time using LEGO's pick-a-brick and Bricklink to order pieces, actually. It's my first "serious" MOC. It remains one of top results on Google when you image search for the Information Center. I wanna say it was one of the first uploaded to internet, but that might be pretty big for my briches tbh. A lot of people since have made this iconic building using more accurate color schemes, pieces, designs, and so on, but I'm still very happy with this not-completely accurate building 10 years later. It's traveled with me through numerous living spaces in college and has been long overdue for a bit of a refresh.
Now what is this refresh? Nothing major. Cleaning up/swapping out some yellowed pieces for more white pieces, increasing the structural integrity of the roof and tower so its a little easier to take off, and improving the ground work and floor on the first floor. You can see it already, but this was done in mind to match my other buildings I've been cooking up, which is to add pavement and actual ground work to the buildings beside bare baseplate. Not quite ready to jump into the MILS plate business people have been switching too, but I think the pavement makes it pop and look a lil better for sure. It looks more like an welcoming plaza, though I think I might add some more greenery later on each side of the door. At the very least, I'm planning to to add green spaces/parks to either side of the building when placed in New LEGO Island.
I will go into more detail in a moment, but I will give credit here to ZaiksMcKraven on Bricklink for the design in front of the Information Center.
