Description
I have always been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenter's movie "The Fog" (1979). It's not a movie that people bring up very often when talking about Carpenter films but it was always one of my favorites of his. It's sort of a forgotten classic in a lot of ways....And before anybody asks, no, I haven't seen the remake that came out a few years ago and don't have any opinion on it!

Man, oh man...I love your taste in horror films. The remake totally sucks, but the original is one of the most and beautiful, atmospheric, and creepy films I've seen. Lots of likable characters too. Great work as always. I love the stylization and colors. The glowing eyes are wicked.

Thanks for your comments on my art, and it's also nice to hear a fellow horror fan say such cool things about a mutual favorite film.

You think so??? I think it really lacks something, and was a little nervous about posting it cause I thought it came out looking a little half-assed. But thanks, I'm glad to hear you say that regardless!!

Really though I think because you sort of used a color chord it simplifies the color scheme and the composition has some depth. Along with bold shapes from the cross and the more solid shadowed area in the dominant foreground it's nicely contrasting the smaller heavier detailed areas that are set more to the mid-ground but still in focus. Plus the red glowing eyes are a good small accent, contrasting to the yellow to aqua colors, being almost exactly opposite on the color wheel. Anyway, I think it's a strong piece. The only thing I could say that someone might criticize are the 3 glares on the cross. I don't know how the "rules" of glare work though so I don't know, I wouldn't know how to improve on that.

No Bryan. Duh... I think the lighting helps it too and also the fog of course. It's helping push the background to the back by reducing the contrast in the bg and stuff. It's more light and shadow, you know, "Atmospherics"!

I must admit i didn't know there was an original version of "Fog". I must also admit the recent version was weird enough that i actually enjoyed it, so i better go and grab the original.

That really was a good movie. You did a kick-butt job on this! To cool. I like how the priest is clutching the cross even though he doesn't have a chance in the world... Too cool!

The Fog is one of my favorite little ghost stories. As for the remake, you don't even have to see it to know it's a travesty of film.

Saw the original film years ago and loved it. It was brilliant, especially the way the fog moves. I can't help but get slightly nervous when ever I see fog now ha ha.

I'm also a big fan of this one. The whole movie is great, with lots of great lines, great performances, great chills, and a set up that I just love. But one of my favorite parts is how they seemed to give the fog itself a life of its own. All the effects they managed in the film really made it a character unto itself.
As for the remake, it's a good thing you didn't see it. I bought it sight unseen, because I loved the original so much. Let's just say it doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the original. Hahahaha...

Yeah, they run a very casual operation. Most of the time that's a good thing because it gives you more freedom, but every once in a while it allows little problems to slip through the cracks. Anyway I hope you had a good experience there.

Aw, I liked that dude with the gold cross (who's name escapes me right now?) I felt bad when they all came back and slashed him at the very end of the movie for no apparent reason.
Anyway, sick drawing as usual.

"For no apparent reason"? Father Malone was a descendant of the original conspirators the ghosts were taking their revenge on!! Also, he was carrying the gold that had been stolen from them by the conspirators... and then offered himself as a sacrifice so the ghosts would leave the rest of the town alone. There's 3 reasons they killed him right there!! Haha.

Yeah, but they took the gold, left, and then just reappeared back out of nowhere after everyone's gone home...?
Oh, hell, never mind. Don't see the remake. My cousins got me into the movie and we even brought some Chinese food in with us, but we left halfway through becuase it was such a suck-fest.
