Oho, sure enough I ended up drawing another one of the puppet. I really like his design and he's fun to draw, so.. you might get puppet spam from me in the near future.I really hope you guys like this one though..

I use a combination of Paint tool sai and photoshop cs6.
Although... I did use the water colour tool to shade it, if that counts.

O_Q That's a sad thing. Maybe you can figure out the means to get a seperate lap top or something?? If you can manage, I don't think you'd regret it. Having these programs doesn't determine wether your art is good or not, mind you.

RANT MODE ON.
Ahhh, shading shading shading... I used to struggle with that.. I still do sometimes, but I'll tell you what I've learned so far personally. Β
You don't wanna feel like you have to outline the entire thing in a darker color all the time, it's a good effect but it won't do you any good if your going for a more realistic effect. Pick a spot on your canvas and pretend there's a HUGE flashlight there. The light will hit the object your drawing directly, and the shadow will be cast farther away from the light.
If you shine the light on the object from the right, then the shadow's are likely to be more on the left side, right? Β
Also, another tip.. for the longest time I only shaded with one color, but now, I use 3 different shades of that color from lightest to darkest! I also add highlights with a very light version of that color. Those will be closer to where ever the light is shining from.
Different artists may tell you different things, I'm in no way perfect and I'm still learning. Don't be scared to ask around or look for tutorials if your having trouble! Β

Hmmm, Are you blending everything properly? When I look at your drawings personally I don't think they look very flat at all!
Maybe you wanna try adding more highlights on the edges, I rather enjoy doing that lately.
Ah, I've got it! Textures and effects! Adding texture to your coloring will make it look really nice. You can do that with certain tools on photoshop, or you can find .png images of textures that you want.
For this one, I used a "Grundge" texture. Β
