At Sophie's raceway, the crowd is enjoying watching others drive for recreation.

Lagan (aka "Schemer") and his partner, Stitzlewumpkin approach Priscilla and Kanzi, owners of Short and Sweet Mechanics. They propose a new challenge, that if Lagan can beat them in race with his new rocket, Short and Sweet Mechanics has to advertise for he and his partner. If Lagan loses to their mount of choice, then he and Stitzlewumpkin will give the girls a big payout.

Kanzi tells her cousin that they are not interested in betting. Lagan inists. Priscilla reminds the two men that they lost the previous challenge race, and that word has spread that they had a mine deal go bad. Lagan and Stitzlewumpkin brush off "those meaningless setbacks" and still insist on the challenge. Both Kanzi and Priscilla state they don't need to race for some payout, but if the two guys need to learn a lesson....
