I think you're getting them mixed up with EA. Have you even seen any of the new Sonic games? The're better than ever! (Can't beat the originals though)

I agree. I remember during the sixth console generation, most of EA's games were based on movie licenses, like Harry Potter or LOTR. Most of their games were mediocre at best, even a number of their flagship titles. Today, EA can only produce good quality games by snapping up top tier developers like Bioware or DICE.
EA could never produce a good game without developer acquisition. At least Sega had their own in house arcade divisions like AM2/AM3. EA are in it for the money, more so than Sega if you ask me
I'm impartial towards the then and now regarding the Sonic franchise. But I have to say the Sonic Adventure games are among my favorite titles in the series. Oh, and there's the originals of course
