Nice waterfall, did you make a basic shape or metablob, and then put a watery hypertexture on it? Since thats the only way I can imagine you would get that effect. I can guess that the mist is a group of spheres with a volumetric cloud-like material in them?...Correct me if I'm wrong.
But once again, nice work. Tropical scenes are always my favourites.
