One of the abilities and tradition of the hinode clan is practice kyudo but, since she never learn that good, she train by herself using weapons like a shinai and over time she chosed to create her double-edged scythe. That also means that Hanako acquired great mastery in creating weapons.

Her greatest virtue is her high IQ, making her capable of creating excellent tactics and reacting quickly to any obstacle even without using the kekkei genkai of her clan. That's why when Konoha was founded and Madara leaves the village, Hanako became a great help to Hashirama.
She also was a great user of ninjutsu tecniques but always preferred to fight in close combat and with weapons, so she practiced her taijutsu to perfection, but when things got tough, she used to use storm release jutsus, being popularly known for her secret technique: Demon Dragon Storm.
