part 2 -> fav.me/dad0966I have worked on this thing for like 3 weeks now. That is far too long. I think because it's been cold, I didn't work on it every day which drew out the time spent on it by far too much. I'm gonna have to work on getting faster somehow.
You can tell I'm an animator and not a comic artist XD so many panels are designed more as a way to show expression change than to be a functioning panel. Maybe I could get away with calling it a "style" and people won't notice.
I'm not use to drawing Undyne just yet. I tried things as I went from panel to panel which is NOT how you should do things but oh well. That's how I did them.
I also play a little fast and loose with Papyrus' expressions these days. As long as I follow the rule of "the mouth never closes" I think it's still ok? I try not to be TOO crazy with it. Otherwise it's difficult to get nice faces out of him I actually find Papyrus much harder to draw than Sans.
Waterfall is a difficult location to draw with pure black and whites because it's so dark XD;; I'm not sure how successful I was handling the backgrounds here, but hopefully it's alright.
I really hope you guys like this. I spent an exorbitant about of time on it, and I won't lie and say it's not disheartening when so much hard work is shrugged off XD;;; I am way too needy and craving of attention/affection.
Also I won't lie, there are a lot of expressions here I actually REALLY like. I think there's only one maybe 2 panels I'm not a 100% happy with. So I'm rather proud of this one.

Black and white is very hard! XD I rarely use it. Mostly because I like drawing with colour. It's really challenging but I want to get better at it

I actually like expression changes being focused on, especially in such a suspenseful scene. It works well in cases like this. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more!

I knoooooow he's such a precious cinnamon roll X3333 The fact that he's implying he has so few friends at the beginning of the game is like "whaaaat where are you people and why aren't you loving, cherishing, and protecting this beautiful person???"Ā To quote Undyne, "CHERISH HARDER!!!" X3

He pretty much has no friends at the start of the game at all. And only Sans insists that he's the coolest person he knows. And it's actually really heartbreaking as you slowly realise WHY. Because Papyrus is a dork who is really awkward and silly. But if you stop to really notice what he does just to help others, Sans' insistence that he's really cool suddenly gets a lot more meaning. Sans is not deluded or blind to how dorky Papyrus is. He's just the only one who seems to notice the really important parts.
WHY DON'T MORE OF YOU DUMB MONSTERS LOVE HIM???? *sobbing*

I'm someone who really struggles with backgrounds, so seeing things like this really really takes my breath away!
The balance is really awesome- enough to give us a sense of atmosphere, but not too much so that it distracts from what is going on.

X3 I really love how you drew both of them, and how you made Papyrus lying and maybe even giving up on joining the royal guard for the human, showing that he would do anything for his friends. Undyne is really cool in your style! It's very different from everything I've seen so far, and I really like it! Papyrus is also very good! ><Ā

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it! 8'D Honestly, this is pretty much what happens in the game itself. At least as far as Papyrus lying to Undyne goes. He even says in the game over the phone that he'll have to give up being a royal guard because of it. I'm really surprised not more people talk about this, because I think it's actually a really big deal. And it says a lot about Papyrus as a person.

XD I only realised I think the second or third time I saw the phone call, and after I finished my neutral run and he also talks about not being a guard any more. It doesn't help he phones you to tell you this while you're running for your life XDD It's a little hard to focus at that point.

I find it kind of amazing that although everyone loves papyrus... no-one mentions this part of the game in regards to what Papyrus is actually doing. He is throwing away his entire life's ambition to keep you safe. D'X
And people wonder why Sans insists that his brother is the coolest person he knows.

I'll have to double check but I'm pretty positive he does mention it! the problem is he decides to tell you this while you're running away from Undyne and stressed out XDD so it's easy to miss or not properly register what he's saying. Poor papyrus. I have a small feeling that people missing the importance of the things he says a lot.
I think the game, like a LOT of things in the game, hopes the player is the one who realises why some small things are important :3
