Red is the colour with the longest wavelength in the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite to violet. Red is one of three primary colours in the RGB colour model and is a secondary colour in the CMYK colour model, created by merging magenta and yellow together.

Red is the colour of blood, and as such it is historically tied to positive notions of sacrifice, courage and passion but also possesses negative attributes including danger, anger and violence. Red is also the colour of communism and socialism, adding another subjective layer to its representation, at least in the West. In the East, red symbolises happiness and good fortune.

Finally, after several days of intense drawing and colouring sessions, I’ve finally made this fine illustration for a challenge that most people have moved on from (I guess too late then never I suppose). Now technically not all the characters are truly “red”; four of them have blue as a secondary colour and two of them have yellow and black but shh, shh please let me have my moment.

Now I do indeed plan on doing EVERY colour for the Colour Palette Challenge (yes that also includes intermediate colours like turquoise and vermillion). Expect more in the future and other artworks mixed in as well so I don’t go insane drawing people 1/5th my preferred drawing scale.
