Description Seated, smoking on a church pew.
congregation of souls in the neighborhood bar
Cross legged, tight black leggings
     observing the pool table
admiring male asses thrust out as they take aim
Casual banter with strangers
     difficult questions with friends
     men leaning in too close
girls eyeing me from across the room
     men leaning in too close
     girls wondering about me
Sipping cola through a thin straw
     cheers all around
plastic cup against pints of beer
men joking with me, men hugging me
men smiling at me, men dancing with me
men wandering over to me, men shying away from me
I confide in my friend, the court jester
I tell him, between inhales of my cigarette
     I tell him quietly
that I find that man's arms beautifully strong
Why don't you leap to him?
     Because I shouldn't I say very quickly
Because he wouldn't want me, I say after a pause
A handsome man bends over to take aim at the 8-ball
he looks over his shoulder at me,
directly behind him, 50cm from his ass
I hold my position, I raise an eyebrow
He leans over further, his hand-cupping perfect ass
And the nerve...he rests his bottom, for balance
     on my left breast
Seated, blushing on a church pew
     Congregation of souls seeing bodies.
     despite myself...i smile.
